I've decided that there is no pre-printed fabric out there that meets my high expectations for my first child's crib set. He is coming in September!!!! So, I have opted to silkscreen my own fabric. I was thinking about Muslin, just because it is so inexpensive. But then I thought wear and tear may be more than Muslin can handle over the next year or two. So then I was thinking Sateen, which is somewhat spendy. But I figure I can go to Ross or TJMaxx and find some King Size Sheets for cheap, might save a $.

Does anyone have suggestions here?Huh Also, is there a good Book to use as a reference for fabrics? I constantly find myself reading patterns and going "What is that?" when it comes to fabrics.

First off congratulations!

As far as crib sets go, I think most are just cotton.

For a great fabric book, try More Fabric Savvy: A Quick Resource Guide to Selecting and Sewing Fabric by Sandra Betzina:

It gives all sorts of fabric descriptions, what needle to use, stitch length, etc!  It's one of my favorite sewing resources!
