One of the "new but retro-inspired" projects in my new book was contributed by Craftster member somavenus. If you search for "book clutch" here on Craftster you can find lots of variations on this idea. Anyway, somavenus came up with totally clear instructions and diagrams for my book. (Thanks somavenus!  Kiss) It's a really fun project and a total attention grabber.

Here's a variation that I recently made. I don't know what attracted me to that particular hardcover book. But I love the juxtaposition of it with the happy homemaker fabric. Smiley

Awesome! This is one of my up and coming projects! My sister, Whiskey, and I want to do one from the nancy drew books because we used to read them so much as kids! I can't wait!

Ohmigosh! It's so cool! I especially love that it still looks book-like---as though one is always carrying a book around rather than a purse. love the pairing of the fabric, ribbon, jewel and cover.

it's still hard for me to maul books, though, no matter how cool the project or old and useless the book. . . sigh.

This is so great!  What a cool idea for a gift!

I just started here, so for me seeing it today, the timing couldn't be better - there is a huge library booksale I am going to tonight! Grin
