well, here's the deal:

someone wants to sign up for a swap.  This particular person is in a number of swaps right now.  Also is currently late in at least 3 of them.  I've also been told of poor communication during the swaps.  Now, I don't really want to deal with that, so how do I tell this person nicely that they can't be approved for the swap???

I think you could put it to them as a question: "I notice that you're in a lot of swaps right now and that you're running late on several of them. What's going on there? I'd like to include you in this swap, but I'd need to know that you can send on time. How are things going to be different in your life when send date comes so that you can send on that day and no later?"

Either you get an answer that satisfies you (She's in the middle of finals now, but will be done soon) and she can join, or you don't get an answer that satisfies you and you can say, sorry, I think this just isn't the right swap for you.

Its up to you about who you let in your swap. I would pm the organizers for feedback. I think if people start being more strict, poor swap behavior will happen less. To be fair, how late is she and does she have a good reason? I agree with EmilyFlew that you should pm her as well. If you decide not to let her in be honest and let her know its because she is late in too many swaps and has negative comments in her feedback.

Thanks for the feedback, that's pretty much what I thought.  I wanted reassurance, I guess, from more experienced swappers though.

I agree with the others here, pm her and the organizers of the swaps she's in.  Tell you you have some reservations about allowing her in.  Her response should help you decide.  If she has good intentions, she won't be offended.
