Hey Everyone,
I was out for dinner the other night and saw a girl carrying a purse made from a Bamboo type place mat (the kind with lots of long thin wood sticks all attached). The mat was rolled into an isosceles triangle shape with the ends of the mat meeting to make the opening. From what I could see there was fabric sewn into the triangle shape. I know I'm so bad at explaining but I'm looking for a picture to show you guys.

Anyhow, I have no clue how to sew fabric onto the mat, anyone have any ideas???

Er, would the fabric be sewn onto the thread that attaches the bamboo sticks together? Then through the ends (i.e. the top pieces of bamboo)?

I don't know either, I'm just guessing.

I  have  no  clue  how  to  sew  it  on  with out  ruining  your  machine and or the  bamboo.....  only thing  I  could  think  is  hot  glue!    would  sure  love to see  the  pic  if  you find  one.

isosceles triangle shape   is  french to me  so  I  can't  get a  mental  image  I do know I  can  find the  bamboo placemats at wal-mart.......  never  tried  one  because  I was afraid to  sew on it.     good  luck

Hehe that would be the science nerd in me trying to complicate my descriptions... A triangle with two long equal sides and a smaller base.
I guess what I was trying to say is that the purse has two defined longer sides and a flat base and so from the side it looks like a triangle.

Hmmm Hot glue isn't a bad idea, perhaps I shall try that before I attempt to sew anything.

Thanks Smiley

That is sooooo cute!
I would suggest E6000 glue - it's much stronger than hot glue, and more flexible. Post your results. Grin

LOL! I totally understand, I'm an E6000 junkie and own a box of adhesives. Sad. Cheesy
I think because of the extremes in temperature and humidity here in Minnesota - hot glue just never works for me.

Oooh Thats the one! It looks even cuter on the webpage. Where do you find that glue? I'm gonna try it tonight and post some pics soon.
Thank you everyone for your help! Smiley
