So I finally got around to uploading the photos of the awesome package I recieved from redstar13 (thanks alyssa!!).  So sorry that it has taken me ages to post the photos but I exams and then a school trip to the central australian desert so I was away from the internet for awhile.

Anyway, on to the mexican goodies!!!  Cheesy

First up, I recieved this adorable little skull themed box/chest.  If you didn't think it could get any cuter, wait till you check out inside the box.

Yep.  Those are teeny tiny skulls.  How awesome!!

Next was a whole bunch of red rose hairclips in both the snappy clip and bobby pin variety so I can wear them with whatever hairstyle.

And lastly.....(drumroll)......a new summery-mexicany skirt!  I know I took heaps of photos of it, but I wanted to show off it's awesome-ness from every angle.

The whole thing:

Detail on hem line:

Waistband:

All the goodies together:

Sorry that my bed is wearing the skirt instead of me, but it's so cold here at the moment. Sad

Thanks redstar13 for all the wonderful items.  It was great fun swapping with you.

Also: I have photos of what I sent to you.  Let me know when you recieve and I'll put them up.   Wink

Oh my goodness!! More lovely items!  The tiny skulls are so cute!

The skirt looks like it would be fun in the hot summer and aren't you going to be glam wearing those roses!!

Yay!  This swap continues a bit!!

Redstar13 received today so I am posting the pictures of what I sent.

A day of the dead embellished box (papier mache embellished with felt).

A sacred heart themed box.

A guadelupe trinket box.

A whole bunch of vintage Mexican graphic marble magnets.  It was kind of hard to get a decent photo of these.

A recipe card for some margarita mousse.

And lastly (this took me ages to make - it was my first embroidery project ever)...a tote bag embroidered in a traditional Mexican folk art design (i didn't make the bag).

All the items together:

Thanks PinkMafia for organising.  I had heaps of fun making all this stuff (and receiving of course!  Cheesy ).  Sorry again for sending so late  Embarrassed.

Anna, your embroidery is beautiful--I know that took a lot of time and work!!

Also, I never thought to use felt on boxes!!  I love that idea and might need to snipe it, hee hee!  They, too, are very lovely!

Better late than never and definitely a nice contribution to this wonderful swap!!

hmmmm...i guess i should probably share the recipe then.  Wink

here it is:

margarita mousse

prep time: 20 minutes + refrigeration

cooking time:  5 minutes

ingredients:

1/4 cup (55g) white sugar
1 tbsp gelatine
2 tbsp water
1 cup (220g) caster sugar
1 + 1/4 cups (300g) sour cream
300ml thickened cream
1/2 cup (120g) spreadable cream cheese
green food dye
1/4 cup (60ml) tequila
1 tbsp cointreau
1 tsp finely grated lime rind
3/4 cup (180ml) lime juice
1/3 cup (80ml) orange juice

steps:

1.  place white sugar on a saucer and dip the rims of 6 3/4 cup capacity glasses into cold water and then into the white sugar, refrigerate the glasses.

2.  sprinkle gelatine over the 2tbsp of water in a small heatproof jug.  stand the jug in a saucepan of simmering water and stir until the gelatine dissolves.  cool for approximately 5 minutes.

3.  beat caster sugar, sour cream and cream cheese in amedium bowl with electric mixer until the mixture is fluffy and the sugar has dissolved.  beat in enough food dye to colour the mixture a pale green.

4.  whisk tequila, cointreau, rind, lime and orange juice and gelatine mixture into the cream mixture.

5.  divide the mixture evenly amongst prepared glasses and refrigerate until set (about 2 hours).

6.  to serve you can top the mousse with a tiny bit of whipped cream and extra lime rind.  (serves 6)

7. enjoy!  Cheesy

tip:  make sure the gelatine mixture and the cream mixture a re as close to the same temperature as possible when you mix them otherwise the mousse can split into layers or become rubbery
