Can you imagine my surprise to not be able to find any pirate costumes around here?! Hul-lo!
Lucky for you, the pirate way of life is only a puffy shirt away.  I was able to make my pirate shirt from a pattern of a 70s style peasant top with long, puffy sleeves.  For the pants any pair of navy blue or olive green capris will do fine (as long as they are long enough to tuck into your leather pirate boots Grin).
You can add color and/or contrast by wrapping and tying a wide strip of fabric for a sash, bandages or headwrap.  Last but not least you'll need some pirate booty, the chunkier the better!  I went with an assortment of different sized rings and medallions.
And there you have it!  You're ready to round up a crew and set sail upon the high seas. (Or at least camp out for some Pirates of the Caribbean 2 movie tickets.  Cheesy)  Aarrrggh!
I look forward to seeing your pirate outfits soon!

Here's a picture of me'matey, Bloody Mary, to the left and I, Cutthroat Eliza showing off our swag.

This is where my icon thingie comes from, I wanted you to be able to see the whole costume this way. (Those are invisible swords we're holding that I've been meaning to photoshop in. Tongue)

Great costumes! I've dressed up for a few movies before and it's so much fun. For Two Towers my friend and I made elven dresses but they also doubled for homecomming and for Return of the King we were Merry and Pippin. A quick rummage through our closets as well as the theater costumes (both of us in theater crew) and we looked pretty darn awesome if I may say so myself. Actually now that I think about it a little twist and my Pippin costume could be a pirate costume (since I forgot to return some things to the theater and have since graduated, lol).

I know a guy who constantly dresses like Captain Jack. It's hilarious when you see him down the shops - there's always one kid going "Look mummy, a pirate!"

So, to you, I say: "Look mummy, a pirate!" Tongue

Hehe, you guys look awesome.  Grin I'm hoping to convince some friends to dress up for POTC2. They probably won't need much persuading, actually!    Wink
