HI! I am part of an artist collective in Victoria BC Canada that is putting on a one inch button art show event.
The idea is to get as many artists/crafters/etc to design 10 buttons each, to send to us to press into 1" buttons. The 500+ buttons will be on display at an art space here in Victoria for a two day event. In the end you will receive a prize pack of various other artist's buttons.

If you are interested in being part of the show,
please contact dancedanceagogo@hotmail.com and we will send you a template asap!

That sounds really neat... By buttons, I assume you mean badges, the metallic pin-backed kind? Do you just need participants to send the designs on paper, to be pressed into button form, or would each participant have to make their own buttons up before sending? If the paper is what you need, I'm game --- I don't have a button-maker.

Hi! Just to clarify:
You don't need to be any part of the actual pressing of the buttons. All we are asking is that you draw/paint/paste whatever your desired image onto 10 circles (of a size dictated by the template we will send you if you request), then send the sheet back by August 31st. The buttons will then be displayed with the artist's name on the back. After the two day event, the artists involved will recieve a smattering of other artist's buttons in the mail.

We are leaving the content of the design completely open ended. They may be in a series, or individual designs, they can be writing, drawing, painting, pasting (as long as it doesn't stick out much at all or it won't press right), etc etc.

Everyone encouraged!
Email or reply to receive a template.
Thanks,
 Caitlin

yeah, non-canadians are totally welcome!

everyone who is interested should email me (dancedanceagogo@hotmail.com) their mailing address to receive a template and instructions. I'm trying to scan in a template to email, but haven't yet (not very computer savvy!) so I think mailing the template is the most viable option...

Thanks for all your enthusiasm,
 now email those addresses!
Caitlin.

gee, thanks! But lets talk buttons- will they all be up on a wall? Is it a gallery space, house? I want to do this project in the mid-west....I can't wait to see pictures of all those buttons. I just love group shows that display well which can encompass so many folks- hence the super enthusiasm.

Yes, it is in an artist-collective gallery space, but we are not sure of the exact  display quite yet. I know that there was a similar type of show in Vancouver BC, but had fifty artist's designing one button. I'd like to hear how your project turns out!
When we receive all the buttons, we plan on making a documentary booklet, which we we send to anyone who participates (along with, as I've said, some  other artist's buttons).

I'm really looking forward to seeing all the designs... I hope you decide to participate!
