So, after my 3rd try, I came to the conclusion that I should knit on size 8's instead of 9's and stop around 8.5-9".  I am very happy with my hat.

The one in the movie didn't sag as much as the pattern calls for... or maybe I just have a small head.

that looks cute, qbmaya!  mine sags quite a bit also, but i kind of like it that way.  i have to wear a hat at work (starbuck's), so i just throw this on when i get off work to cover my nasty hat hair Cheesy  i have everyone at work wanting one and pretty soon i'll start on one for my friend chris LOL.

Oh I love this hat! I was so discouraged after knitting so many ill-fitting sweaters so I thought a few small projests would be nice. I think I used Araucania Nature Wool (frog yarn). I want to sew a big colorful button to the back where it gathers together. My reading lamp had the honor of modeling it for me.

i used lions brand wool ease yarn (the kind that is like 40%wool i think) in seaspray and used size 4 dbl pnts for the cuff and size 7 16" circulars for the rest. i followed the three cable  from the turtleknits pattern. i am really impressed with the cables, i thought that they would be soo much harder. thanks for all the comments!
