I'm hoping to start a KAL for this so called simple sock pattern:
http://secure.elann.com/ShowFreePattern.asp?Id=5024
This is my first attempt at socks and i haven't gotten past the first row and have already had problems.
So I'm hoping I can find strength in numbers.
So anyone who is ready to venture into their first sock pattern or anyone who's just looking for some sock camaraderie please join in...i can use all the help i can find Tongue
Be brave sock virgins...accept the peer pressure...i'll be gentle...we'll work together

Update:
Ok well i might be changing to the "rave review pattern" (near bottom of page) because so far I'm having no luck even starting the toe ups...I've only been able to cast on and then i don't understand the rest.  It doesn't help that these are my first projects on dpns too...so I'm really really a virgin...I'll have to take a look at that other pattern see if can get a better grasp there...thanks for the link

***this is why i wanted to start this tut...I'm already so lost on row 3 that thanks to you wonderful people out there i just might try a different pattern

thanks

Of course you don't have to use this pattern...use whatever you want
are you goint to work from toe or top?
This is the yarn I got from Elann and well there are so many patterns for socks out there I just wanted to find something plain...nothing fancy for my first time
~Sigh~ I just have to make sure it's special...you're only a sock virgin once

I'll join! I've been looking at the sock yarn that I have accumulated and flipping through my Nancy Bush book that I bought all this week.

I've been looking at sock patterns forever, even bought the yarn for some, but haven't had the nerve to start.  I'm in!  Smiley

i would like to work from top, since my grandma was teching me how to do it, and i was doing it once... just, it was 15 years ago:)

but i'm in love with those ankle high socks, with pompoms on them. and they are all made from toe... i have to decide yet:) but i bought yarn, that is a start:D it is so incredibly thin! uh, i'm excited.

I've actually been thinking about venturing into sock land lately! I have some knit picks sock yarn that is on it's way to me right now... I don't know if I want to try that toe up pattern or follow this sock tutorial that i've heard raves about: http://www.cometosilver.com/socks/SockClass_Beginning.htm.

Ok... um... I'll do it.   But only because you promised to be gentle!     Cheesy

I've thought about doing it a couple of times now, but haven't gotten the nerve.   I'll look at sock yarn this weekend and start up.   I mainly want to learn to knit socks because I love sock yarn.
