I saw the April Fools gag on thinkgeek.com (sadly can't find the link now) about growing your own extra life and thought it would make an excellent garden decoration. So I made this from air-hardening clay, wire, aluminum foil, pvc pipe and paint. I'm not quite sure why my SO thought it would be a good idea to put stripes all around it but it looks good. Now I may have to make a bunch of other 90s pop culture references to put in my garden.

Oh, my brother would love to have one of these on his windowsill!  I must add it to my "crafty present idea" list, next to the Triforce wristwarmers he's expecting for his birthday.  Really nice work.

I agree, my brother would love this too! Another idea for the brother-friendly craft vault.

I feel like I'm intruding in this thread, because I really don't know video games.  Smiley  I love the idea of cartoony bright color in the garden, though.

This is totally not the point of your post, but what's up with the half-buried bottles?  I'm really curious!

I'd like to think they're sprouting.  Maybe irateasianchild is raising Dr. Pepper plants!

I made one from my brother for his college graduation. But I think the white spots are too small. Oh well. totally cute though!

My best friend actually requested a piranha plant one so I'm working on that right now. To answer the soda bottle question, its the You Grow Girl drip irrigation system. I live in Florida so the soil dries out really quickly. Here's the link if you want to make your own. http://www.yougrowgirl.com/garden/dripsystem.php

I'm so glad I asked about the pop bottles!  It's like you posted two craft projects in one.  I bookmarked that link, because I think it'll be useful on my black metal porch this summer.  Thanks for the info!

You're welcome. It'll definitely help you out. Try to find the biggest pop bottles you can. I used 1 liter water bottles because that's all that was in the recycling bin and I think they aren't as effective as I want them to be.

How cute! It does make me nostalgic of my youth in the 90's <3

So cute!  I'm probably not going to have a garden of my own for a loooong looong time, but this idea would probably be cute as an indoor house plant too, so I'm tempted to try it out.  Great job!
