finally...
its been a brain bender but I'm finished

this was modified from a pattern in the march '06 issue of creative knitting magazine.
I used Caron simply soft brites (6oz).
The colour was awesome (watermelon)
but I think if I ever decide to do this pattern again, I'll steer very clear of acrylic yarns...this kind of work deserves to be blocked properly!

my mom helped out too...she made me these buttons out of translucent and hot pink sculpey

Love it. I saw a similar sweater on a woman at a hockey game recently and immediately thought "WANT!". Now I just have to learn to cable  Roll Eyes.

The crazy thing is, I was looking at that pattern (sadly, it was the only one that I liked), and I wanted to try it out in caron simply soft. My first actual finished project was branching out, in simply soft (frosted raspberry or something like that).
How many skeins did you use?

I <3 the watermelon!!! my LYS doesn't have the bright colors though. Sad

great job on the sweater!!!

the funny thing is I don't remember how many I bought in the first place...all I know is I have 1.5 skeins left....I believe this sweater takes 4.5-5 skeins with that yarn Grin.

i don't normally recommend going to wal-mart for yarn....but thats where I bought it...for $2.47 a piece...I couldn't resist it was a steal.

March issue? You did it so much faster than I would have. I want one but it would probably take me years, haha.

Wow... I don't knit, so I'm REALLY impressed!

(I worry a bit about the Sculpey buttons though... generally the stronger brands of polymer clay (Premo, FimoClassic, Kato or Cernit)are used for buttons, especially thin ones lie these.  Maybe they won't be exposed to much stress though. If you want to check out more polymer buttons too, washing instructions, etc., look on this page:
http://www.glassattic.com/polymer/buttons.htm)

Since I moved to California, I've hardly worn any sweaters at all <sniff> and I miss 'em...

I didn't really modify the pattern that much. I just made it from a pullover to a cardigan...pretty simple stuff.

as for creative knitting...I usually dint find anything in it that I really like inside...and as for THIS pattern...well I liked the cable knit chart but the pieces are pretty shapeless and boxy...I recommend you use your money to get a vogue knitting subscription instead...I dont always feel I'm getting my moneys worth with creative knitting

thanks guys....I just want to say this is the reason I love craftster. You work hard on something, post it and get tonnes of people you don't even know patting you on the back when you didn't even ask for it....

It was a pullover originally!?
Now I can't decide if I want an awesome sweater like yours (although I definitely wouldn't rock it as hard as you are with those galoshes  Wink ) or a pullover one...

I would suggest that if any of you were to make this in the future that you use something thinner than caron simply soft...dont get me wrong...I loved the way this turned out...but I find that the finished product is a bit bulky and heavy for the design.....
