I recently got a sewing machine ($5 for a singer, hahaha, my parents thought that I would want to learn on it, so they brought me one last weekend).  I made a camera cozy, but that was only a 5 minute project.
I found my fabric on the $2 rack at Joann Fabrics (outer and lining!).  I wanted something I could use for my iPod, book, flips, and towel for the beach...but nothing huge since there's usually a bunch of people in the car going with me.

Outer fabric:

Lining (it was dark when I took this, ahah)

My first pocket!

(Excuse the weird face, ahaha.  It was late and I was excited to have finished!)

Very nice!

I made my first tote last week too so I appreciate how hard it is for us newbies to make something that appears to be so simple for the experienced sewer!! For god's sake it took me over an hour to thread my stupid sewing machine! I'm not even going to discuss how long it took me to make the simple tote I ended up with in the end!

The good news is now that I have made something I'm hooked! I bet you are too!

I'm planning to make a simple skirt next.

Your tote bag turned out really nice. Great job!!

Wow!  I saw this same fabric but didn't know what to make with it!  Your bag is adorable and you did a fine job! Doesn't it make you want to go buy all sorts of fabrics and stuff?  Everything looks like purse potential to me now! ha ha--have fun and keep showing us your finished projects!

hahaha, I am...and all my friends want them.  I'm definitely the crafty one in our group anyway.

Thank you all for the compliments, as well.  Smiley

That is such a cute bag! I would never have thought to put those two colours together but I think you got it perfectly right with the style and combination.

I do not fear to be alone or to be spurned for another or to leave whatever I have to leave. And I am not afraid to make a mistake, even a great mistake, a lifelong mistake and perhaps as long as eternity too.

There's no looking back now, making purses is an addiction but a good one at that.  Great job on that for it being your first one, looks like you've been sewing for years!  And the $5 find on the sewing machine...awesome!!!!!!!!

haha, I brought the lining home and my mom thought that it was the worst combination...until the bag was finished.  haha.  Now she wants one.

Thank you for the compliments, I took it to work last night and everyone wanted to know where I got it.   Smiley
