So glad you like them!  They were a blast to make, and I got to pick out as many different yarns as possible from my stash.  Plus, I had to figure out how to make a rectangular granny square.

This post starts with a little story.  Yesterday, I was in Washington, DC.  I went to the Hirshhorn Museum of Contemporary Art, and I saw the best little zipper pouch in the gift shop.  It was made entirely of zippers, and I thought it was so clever and fun that I didn't even have to think about buying it--I just did.  Here it is:

Cute, right?  (It makes a great sound when you shake it.)  I kept it out for most of the ride home, so I could admire it as I drove.  I wished I had a sewing machine, so I could try something like it myself.  Maybe something a little bigger, and in a different color combination.

Well, I got home around 12:30, went for the mail, and found an envelope from heart-on.  When I opened it, I nearly fainted.  Look what she sent me:

A pouch made of zippers!  What are the chances?  And it's totally different.  It's larger, the colors & design are completely different, and it's even sewn differently.  I think the one heart-on made actually has a more professional, "finished" look about it.  I was so delighted, and I had to zip & unzip each zipper about 20 times to make sure I wasn't just in some type of long-drive-induced hallucination.  It really was there in front of me.  Heart-on, you made my week!  I love this thing, and I can't wait to show it off!  IT'S PERFECT!  THANK YOU!

I received a wonderful package from princessblueberry.  She sent me nine ATC's (!) and 39 pages of origami paper    That's a lot of cranes for my project, thanks!  Here is a sampling of what she sent to me:

The ATC on the left reads "Beauty lies within the growing of the soul," and the two others read "Beauty".  There were so many, I had trouble getting a good pic of all of them together.  My favorite is one which says "Etiquette:  Use knife and fork to cut large pieces of food," and it has a retro school picture of a little girl cutting up her food.

what's your crane project, onthinice?  i recently learned to fold paper cranes and i love it i think i'm going to decorate my windows with some... if only i can keep them away from the cats!

I want to make 1000 paper cranes for my father.  There is a Japanese legend that says folding that many cranes pleases the gods, and you are granted a wish.  It is a thing to do for good health (in my father's case), world peace, or other such things.  Here is one link about Sadako and the 1000 Paper Cranes
