Hello! This is my first post here (although I've been lurking around for awhile now Wink  I recently found Jenny Hart's website (Sublime Stitching) and was amazed and inspired by her awesome embroidery patterns and portraits.  So I decided to try my own portrait of my dog Gypsy! It was so much fun, I have not stopped stitching since. In this one, I tried to incorporate all the different stitches my grandma taught me when I was 5 or 6. (Thanks Grandma! <3) I also added some beads. (I love beads.) Here it is:

That is fantastic! and such a cute dog!  What are you planning to do with the finished piece?  It's much too pretty to not to show off.

I absolutely adore your dog portrait.  I give it five rawhide chews out of a possible five!  You've captured that winsome doggie smile that I love and the face looks so 3-D.  I've been wanting to make appliqued dog face dinner napkins, but perhaps I'll try embroidery.  Your work is inspired and inspiring!

Thank you thank you! (I'm a huge annoying dog person too, I had to show her off somehow! Wink I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. I thought of making it into a pillow but it's kind of small, about 7x7. I have done several smallish embroidery pictures and plan on doing more, so maybe I'll make a quilt when I have enough! I've never made a quilt, that would be an expirament!  Shocked

that's so great!!!  as you can probably guess, i'm one of those annoying dog people too.  but...since my dog is pretty much black, there'd be no real good "texture" or "depth" if i did a portrait of her.  just alot of black.  great job on yours!!

your dog looks like my dog!
silly beginner question--how do you make the pattern from the original picture?
(because my dog needs to be embroidered)
