Ok first I must say that I love this work. It's in your face, but not offensive, witty, and creative. Well done!

I think lambskin will actually rip easier, though i'm not positive on that. I know they aren't as safe for any sort of sexual contact. But she also told the class that it was a really bad idea to use a tampon until after sex, so.. i'm pretty sure she was actually catholic and trying to convince the class to follow her misguided beliefs. Nothing against catholics, i'm just saying it's not good to use your religious beliefs to teach a sex ed class in a public schools.

Actually, she doesn't have to be Catholic - the quotes in the image come from Jack Chick's tracts, and he freaking hates Catholics.  I believe he's gone so far as to blame them for the Holocaust.  Certain Christian groups hate anything to do with birth control, because sex is only supposed to be part of marriage, and the point of marriage is to have children, so the only time you would use birth control is if you're having sex out-of-wedlock.
And I can actually see that, for some women, you might want to wait until after your first intercourse to put a tampon in.  It sometimes takes that little extra...  something to really stretch out your hymen.  That probably isn't why she thought girls should wait, but...  there is an element of truth to it nevertheless.

Gotta agree with you there, although I orignally wanted to comment on the painting! Some ppl are just uncomfortable with the idea of tampons, but as an old Catholic school girl, I can guarantee that this woman's warning against tampons was not necessarilya "Catholic thing." It could just be a woman thing! Remember the first time you tried to use one ladies! Scary!

 And yes, lambskin is less effective in preventing pregnancy and the spread of STD's. That's a fact. So for anyone with a latex allergy who must use lambskin, better seek alternate forms like the pill or patch! Oh yeah, or abstinence!

I'm allergic to latex, and they make non-latex, non-skin condoms.  They're made out of poly-urethane.  Trojan Supras and Durex Avantis.  Avantis are the best in my experience.

Wow.  I'd never heard of these Chick tracts and after seeing your artwork I looked them up.  I'm speechless.  They're funny, in a ridiculous, but incredibly disturbing.  I think there is a great deal of good in all religions, but when any of them are taken to the biased, narrowminded extremes in these pamphlets they are chilling. I can't comprehend how these could ever 'save' anyone...

Well, that's my 2 cents.  Thanks for provoking some fascinating but disturbing reading.  I really liked the contrast between the porno images and the Chick tracts.  I'm so glad Craftster is full of sane people like you.

I believe your intent is to expose the lies that create a culture of fear...and with Halloween on the way and speaking of instilling fear...I heard a great "This American Life" on NPR a few years back on the Hell House hosted by Trinity Church in TX.  It is really quite disturbing; essentially it is a haunted house depicting sinners and hell; the young girls fight over who gets to play those most wretched of sinners...women who have abortions.  They also described scenes of gay men dying horrifying deaths of AIDS. It is extreme for sure but it makes me wonder how a culture of fear affects the youth of this country...following are links to a documentary movie on the topic, articles, and the NPR story.

I'm also allergic, and for a long time (years) I didn't know it. I just wanted to add--I hope not too graphically--that if regular condoms ever create a burning or pinching sensation... it's probably an allergy!
