Butterflies, Buttons, & Crochet--ah, life is good!

I crocheted this afghan for my dad's birthday which is coming up later this week. It's my first attempt at one, and I must say that I'm pleased with the results. I always learn something with each crochet project I do. I used Lion Brand Jiffy yarn in three different colors, burgandy, a shade of blue, and camel. It's basically just double and triple crochet with a single crocheted border in two colors. The pattern I started using suggested tassels, but my dad just isn't a tassel kind of guy.

That is definitely an afghan a man can be proud of! It looks great. How long did it take you to make?

Thanks! It took me about two weeks, off and on.

It's great!  Good color choices.  I like it better without the tassels.  I think tassels get in the way of cuddliness.

Very nice!  I always have problems switching colours over 'neatly' in crochet work for some reason.
It's a very masculine blanket - tassles would not go at all.  Smiley

Very nice! Good "guy" colors and a nice, clean pattern!

Thanks, to each of you who have taken the time to post a comment! I enjoyed doing this one, and since it was my first, I don't want to part with it. But at least it's going to my Dad.

I think the trick is to keep both yarns pulled tight as you're making the switchover. That's just my opinion, though. Someone else may have a better suggestion.

LOL @ the kiss and your avatar. Too cute.
And, as for picking up the crochet hook again: You should!
