I love that.  That might be motivation enough to follow an actual pattern!

I wonder how I could do that but make it into a rug!
Crochet it with fabric strips, instead of yarn.  Or twine, for a different type of rug.

Just as a warning, getting the first few rows of this one is a major doozy. It took me 4-5 attempts to get it right.

I'm working on a star shaped afghan using this pattern (scroll down to 3/2/06 entry). It was much easier to get this one started.

ya I had a bunch of problems with that pattern too, I just couldnt get it. But this one (the one I made) was way easier.
