Who knew tailoring was so much fun?

I have wanted to do this for a while, I gathered the supplies and was going to do it on my own. BUT a new project was added to one of my classes (costuming techniques) and it happened to be a shibori project

It is REALLY COOL.

It is a silk scarf dyed with fiber reactive dye. The base is the red, I dyed half fuchsia and half fire(?) red, wrapped it up on the pole (see link below) and overdyed it with blue. Now it is all crinkly and cool!

More pictures of the process.

Wow, that is cool.  One of the knitting magazines had an article on knitted shibori last year (I think it was Interweave Knits) and the projects were so beautiful.  Shibori fabrics are so interesting with their textures and colors- your fabric is permanently "accordion" pleated now?

I love shibori... would that I had someplace to attempt it myself (I live in an apartment and the managing office has no appreciation for artistic expression.)

Those colors are beautiful!
