I went into oxfam the other day and saw this hanging on the wall. It was so hideous i coudln't resist - AND it was only 49 pence! Bargain!
I had no idea at all what on earth I'd do with it, but I went along and bought it anyway.
Here's the before shot (my camera's really bad so I'm sorry of you can't make it out)
It's one of those sort of metallic scratch away image things, of a squirrel sitting on a tree stump in a random forest place.
I had no idea what to do, but I felt the need to take him away from the dull forest to new, exciting places ... to experience new things .... also, he looked like he was holding something, so I decided to give him an intruemt.
Oh and I left some mushrooms in (i'm not sure why).
Here's the finsished product. (again, my cameras bad so I scanned the image - but my scanners not too good either so you have to imagine the glitter's all glittery ann the quirrel + mushroom's all shiny
)
The stuff coming out of his trumpet is rainbows and sturdust - his magical tune is creating the world! (And that's the metalic squirrel creation theory)
My sister suggested the squirrel had eaten the mushrooms which contained some sort of drug, and he
thinks he's creating the world but really he's hallucinating.
She thinks I should call it
"The Narcotic Squirrel's Vision", but I question the message this would send to young children.
Anyway, I'm really pleased how it turned out and it's gonna ba hanging somewhere in my house where everybody who comes in will be able to see it
