I absolutely hate it when people create lazy, unimaginative art pieces and excuse the lack of effort by saying, "It's for kids."  As if kids can't handle anything that doesn't have big shapes and primary colors?  This picture was just a framed 8 1/2 x 11 sheet printed with this simplistic, lame image.

So I said to myself, "You want to use big shapes and bright colors and call it art?  Fine - try this!"  I went to work cutting and decoupaging overlays, and that was how I came up with... "Bad Dog."

I stumbled upon your post when I clicked "recent posts with pictures."  I thought you might be interested in this museum http://www.picturebookart.org/.  It's in central Mass (I'm not sure how far that is from you) and it's a wonderful place to see really serious picture book art on display.

Happy Crafting.

Your edit is too wonderful for words.

LOOKING FOR A PERSONAL SWAP: I'm hoping for dinosaur-themed Xmas crackers, or other dinosaur Xmas items. I can make a Jayne Cobb hat, or many other things!

So, one day two dogs are having a fine ole' time riding around in a big yellow taxi, when suddenly a police car rushes past with a known canine serial killer in the back seat!
Thats what I though of when I saw your revamp.  Grin Could it be the Nyquil is kicking in? Possibly. Regardless, I freaking love what you've done that tooth-achingly sweet painting!
