ok, that's it. i'm going to have to follow through with my art-thriftstore idea. i've been tossing around the idea of painting things and donating them to thriftstores. and i love the idea of writing stories on the back to go along with them.

Honestly, I did a web search for "grandparent", and that's the best face I found. She just looked like NannyB. to me.

I'm sorry to be a spoil-sport, but you have ruined an original piece of folk art here !  I hope none of those changes are permanent.  You probably had a very valuable object.  There is big money in original folk art.  Sorry, my opinion.....

Interesting point, but as the painting is dated 1999, it seems unlikely that it would be worth "big money." Whether it was appropriate to alter someone else's artwork is one thing (I imagine the painter would be happier to have it repurposed and revitalized than sitting in a dusty thrift shop), but the idea that it's a valuable piece of original folk art doesn't seem likely given the date.

I agree with you 100%!
She impoved it as far as I'm concerned.  I would pay "big money" for the art it has become.
