I did this to enter in the spring bag challenge...It came out smaller then I wanted so I'm giving it to my handbag obsessed 12 year old cousin Becca who's visiting in June (she live in AZ, I live in CT, so this calls for a present, lol)

I was a little suprised to find out that the cabling was a snap (it was my first try cabling), the hardest part of the bag was finding handles to fit it.  Finally my sister saw these "D" cutouts and said, "Hey, look, handles!"  She's brilliant.  Then my boyfriend's father, stained, varnished AND waxed them.  So here it is, the "D" bag:

Please excuse my absolutely horrid handsewing skills on the liner.

The colors remind me of Spring. It looks pretty. I love the flower accent too.

I love EVERYTHING about this bag!! The colors, the cables, the flower.... just adorable. What a great idea to use letters for handles. This is the cutest thing I have seen in a long time. Well done.

I got the pattern here:  http://spytastic.blogspot.com/2005/07/cable-knit-purse.html
Mine doesn't look a heck of alot like that one though...mostly because I used much smaller needles and worsted weight cotton instead of bulky weight knit.

Oh and for the flower (which is detachable, it's a pin) I used a pattern from knitty.com...accept I added the center...it was simple I just did the cording for four stitches bound off and tied it up tight until it formed a ball and attached it to the center of the flower.

Oh and thanks every for the enthusiastic feedback, It really made my day!!!  Cheesy
