Hiya craftsters!

This dress is most likely $3000+, by Dolce & Gabanna, but I LOVE it. Now, it a great design, but $3000 for some cotton? (raises eyebrow)

I made it knee length so it is more wearable, and.....(drumroll please)

Whaddaya think?  Cheesy

That is LOVELY. I'm a huge fan! I also love the peach scarf/belt... I think its a better color than the rose used in the original.

wow, that is so pretty!

FWIW, you're not paying $3000 for the cotton--you're paying $3000 for the privilege of owning a dolce and gabbana label that doesn't even show when you wear the dress.  Smiley

so pretty

plz a tutorial Wink

Thanks!

I don't know if it is worthy of a tut! To be honest, I draped it on myself (yes, I am *that* double jointed  Tongue) for the under corset/bustier, and used a *very* fitted strapless dress I already had to smooth put the pattern. This is then boned so (possible TMI) you won't need a bra for support.

The poufed outer bodice is a simple tube which is micro pleated to the waist and above bust measurement. The skirt is the same, only I curved the seams at the side, with back darts, so it doesn't make me look, well, poufy! The Dolce & Gabbana dress has a pretty flat waist.

The skirt is lined in a very fine egyptian cotton, and the back of the overskirt has about a 1" gap for walking. I make a 8 or so inche plain panel for the tiered hem lace, and sewed it all on this panel, attaching it at the top (short lace) The cotton lace/eyelet, satin ribbon and linen body was all purchased in various markets in London and Paris (I live in the former, so it is not as posh as it sounds  Tongue). The uber thin bra straps were bought at a haberdasher's in London (Uber thin is very important!). The bottom tier of widest lace is over 90 years old! and it was only 10 euro for 5 meters.  Shocked

The ribbon is wholly detacable- I can make it peach, pink, or acid green. Scratch acid green.  Grin

Just ask if you want to know anything else.

Well, thanks to a friend, I checked out this month's UK  Instyle (which has this dress in it), and I was dead wrong. It's not $3000, it's $9000!!

Insane!!  Shocked I love Dolce, but the quality is lackluster, and def. not $9000 worth.

AWESOME job.
i was reading some celebrity gossip magazine the other day at my grandma's house (she's all into the gossip and stuff haha) and it had pictures from Tori Spelling's recent wedding (to Dean McDermott). I instantly noticed she was wearing this dress!!!

There was also this story to go along with the dress...

"Tori Spelling is furious with fashion designer Randolph Duke after he refused to refund her deposit on a wedding dress she thought was "too tacky." The star married Dean McDermott in Fiji on May 7 and had commissioned Duke to design her dress for the island wedding.
Spelling put down a deposit of $4,700 but hated the completed dress calling it "cheesy." Duke has hit back telling publication Us Weekly, "I've never designed a dress for free. She won't get her money back."
The actress ended up wearing a white eye-let dress by Dolce & Gabbana instead."

I HAVE to say though, yours is so much more wearable and KUDOS to you for doing an awesome job!!

Wow-ee what a great dress!  Awesome job!

I know this isn't relevant, but when I saw "Dolce & Gabbana" in your subject line, it reminded of some television show episode when a woman said "Dolce and Ga-Borrowed!"

I also really love the ribbon belt.
