@ASHLEYW: the pattern used to be on hotpatterns.com, but it obviously isnt anymore. i could mail it to u if u liked.

This bag is beautiful and so professional.  I really love it.  The sequins are such a nice touch.  They add a bit of spunk, but the bag is still oh so classy.  I would be proud to carry it to my most professional meetings.

thanks bluepie. the outer fabric itself is actually really thin and floppy, i'm not sure what fabric it is. some kind of microfibre (if that exists..?) i suppose. to make the bag sturdy i sewed this outer fabric onto sturdy cotton, denim-ish fabric that used to be curtains.
the sequins were hand sewed onto the fabric before i put the pieces of the bag together.
