My brother is getting married in August and I have offered to craft some favors.  They are having a very small (approx. 20 people) outside wedding and a reception at a small Mexican restaurant.  I was hoping to incorporate that into the favors somehow.  I know they wouldn't like anything cutesy.  They are sorta artsy hippie folk, so I really wanted to create something unique.

I had thought of making small jars of jalapeno jelly.  Or giving everyone one of those small ornamental pepper plants or little cactus's.  The problem might be that I am flying there, so I can't really take 20 plants as carry-on luggage.  I also liked the idea of handmade paper with seeds in it, where you plant it and the paper dissolves and the seeds grow. But I wasn't sure how to tie that into the Mexico idea.

Price isn't really an issue, nor is the time involved/ difficulty.  I'm up for a challenge (if required).

If any one has any ideas I would looooove to hear them.  Not necessarily related to mine either.  Let me know of anything you lovely ladies (or gents) come up with!

Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!

What about making Mexican wedding cookies and wrapping festively?  Or wrapped Mexican candies?

I would also recommend looking at the Crafty Chica website.  She has lots of awesome, authentic ideas.

Mexican wedding cookies!  So tasty, so appropriate.  You don't even have to make them if you're short on time -- just buy them from a bakery and package them into little favor bags/boxes yourself.

You can make dulce de leche sticks or cajeta on a stick. And maybe wrap them in lace with a bow? I don't really know how to make it, I have just seen that stuff at weddings....

Thanks so much for the ideas ladies!  You all are so wonderful.

I like the idea of cajeta... now to figure out how to make it....

Or these mexican cookies look pretty nice too.  I'm sure I could whip up something similar.
