General Info:
Swap name: Outsmart Canada Post Swap!
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: Bloocanoe
Sign-up date range: 23/04/06-03/05/06 (close at 5pm EST)
Date to send item by: 23/05/06  Note that this was changed from 20/05 to 23/05

Limited to a certain number of people?: 20
Non-U.S. participants allowed? This is a Canadians-only swap!  Cool
All ages allowed? Or 18+? all ages. If under 18 pls have your parent's ok.
Organizer is aware of current list of "suspended traders" list and will not allow those members to participate: YES. Please do not sign up if you have negative feedback in your profile.
Organizer meets the 4 conditions for swapping and will make sure that every participant meets these conditions: YES

Additional Rules:
1. If this is your first swap please read: (http://www.craftster.org/swapsinfo.html) to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.

2. Please bookmark this thread and/or post here. All updates will be made here and this will help you to keep up with everything.

3. I will be giving feedback in the following way:
great swapper- for those who follow all the rules
Poor communication- if you don't respond to pm's but have been logging on to craftster

4. Please put "Outsmart Canada Post Swap" in the title of PM's

5. Please create an envelope that you would like to receive. Do some research on your partner.  Smiley

6. Note that I will ask people to check in with me and on the board halfway through the crafting period.

Details of swap:
We're gonna OUTSMART CANADA POST! The goal is to create a package for your partner that is under 0.500kg and under 2cm in height and in a regular envelope (i.e. fits through a mail slot)- if it is, you should be able to mail it for $2.49 and you won't have to pay the fees charged for packages.  Envelope contents can be a mix of crafted and non-crafted items, as long as it fits in one skinny envelope- chat with your partner to make sure you have similar expectations. Note that it was suggested to tape your items between two pieces of cardboard to prevent things from shifting around during mailing (and to prevent things from all bunching up in a corner and exceeding the 2cm height!).

Once you've posted your package, post here and let us know what you paid to send the envelope, so we can all rejoice in outwitting ye olde Canada Post!!

PMed BlooCanoe, hurray!

Well since everyone is going to be sending their items through Canada Post, I don't think we're really screwing them so much as providing about 50$ more business for them... But whatever. Our intentions are malicious and our business is ill-willed. Take that, Canada Post!

XD I do this all the time.. I feel so terrible (but I'm a poor burrer and lettermail goes through faster than parcel mail) I doubt that DCs would be needed because everything would get there in a week.. and also DCs mean expresspost.. 5 times as expensive Sad

Well, I don't think that tracking numbers should be required, they're so spendy.
are people okay with that?

And please feel free to ask any other questions or to let me know if I'm goofing up in anyway, this is my first time organizing so your help will be much appreciated!  Smiley

If you don't want cardboard taking up precious space in your envelope,   vacuum seal everything  before inserting in your envelope. (I use the bags/machine that is meant for food) this is also good for retaining scent if you are sending a scented item. :)d
