Weell been lurking here for well over a month now gathering ideas Wink but this top came to be from browsing a topshop website and thinking 25 for that? Psshh no way! Soo I bought some fabric, made a mini pattern and got to work. I think it's pretty good for a first from scratch own pattern thingy seeing as I've only used my machine about 4 times since I got it 2 years ago *hangs head in shame*
Oh and this is actually my first wearable project sooo therefore its my first post Smiley

Close up of band and darts

Its made from 100% cotton and has ribbon straps that can't really be seen (not the 2 thin straps)
edit: If enough people want one (or even reply Tongue) then I'll be happy to post a tute

« Reply #2 on: April 23, 2006 01:45:08 PM »

Nope there's no zipper, it goes on and off over my head fine, I tried to avoid a zipper at almost any cost! And yeah I may post a tute around next weekend if I get the chance, it was pretty simple to make though Wink.

I love your top, and also your avatar thing. YAYAYAY RENT! AND POLKA DOTS!

The heart may freeze or it can burn
The pain will ease if I can learn
There is no future
There is no past
I live this moment as my last
There's only us
There's only this
Forget regret
Or life is yours to miss
No other road
No other way
No day but today

It turned out great. Is the fabric stretchy? I just wondered since you put in a dart. I think it turned out great. Go sewing!

« Reply #6 on: April 24, 2006 08:41:34 AM »

Nope the fabrics not stretchy at all really. But to make it baggier I made the tube of the top 2 inches wider so I had to do darts to make it fit the top band properly.
and yep poto_fan RENT Cheesy my latest obsession, shame the film didn't do much over here.

Well done, and I'm sure it's much better quality than the topshop one! Ah, I love ribbon.

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box

That's really good - I can't believe you just made the pattern up and you've hardley ever sewed before! YOu must be a natural  Wink
