I taught myself how to knit so I could start making gifts for my pregnant friends (I have a lot right now).  Other than the ribbed scarf from SnB, this is my first project:

It's the "Graphic Blocks Throw" from Vogue Knitting: Baby Blankets Two.  I made some changes:
-different colors (black, white, and red was too stark)
-added a seed stitch border to the edges
-sewed a fabric liner to cover the back side

I cast on in December and finished it this past Sunday.  I had to frog near the end several times because I kept messing up the color pattern.

I chose this project because it was all in garter stitch, and I thought "Hey, only one stitch needed.  This has to be easy!"  Little did I know what "knitting with cotton" and "intarsia" would mean.

I'm working on a much simpler baby blanket for my next friend.  I've learned my lesson!

That's a terrific blanket. I love the squares with yellow in them somewhere - they're so much cooler than the blue and green squares. How big is the blanket?

Without the borders, it was supposed to be blocked to 35" x 35".

That's fantastic! I absolutely love the colors, it looks GREAT!
Especially for only your second knitting project.. and you taught yourself? I tried that but it didn't work, at all.. complete and utter failure in my department. In yours though..
