Help please with straps!

I can't figure out how to attach them by machine (the top is finished and the sides closed).  Is it supposed to be hand sewn? if so I don't see me doing that.  I don't know what I missed and I don't really want to rip out the side seams.  Though I will if I have to, to complete this.  Any help would be appreciated.

I only had 1/2 yard cuts of this line of fabric.  So I made do.  The body of the bag is a little smaller.  And I mixed and matched 4 different fabrics.   The Giftee loved it!!!
I'm getting ready to follow your recipe exactly with 1 yard cuts.  I'm getting ready to make 4 more!  (I have 4 birthdays coming up!)  And everyone can use a new bag...  and handmade adds so much.    Thank you so much for offering this free to us..

I finally figured out how to sew the straps. Next time I will use lighter fabric. The denim & upholstery fabric plus the interfacing made for difficult maneuvering. This my finished product:

Great tute. I'm almost done with 2 of these, but as some have mentioned before, I can't figure out how to sew the straps on by machine. Can anyone clarify if there is a way to do so without ripping out one of the seams? Thanks.
