Thanks to Marinechimp - I learned how to make paper beads. But I always wind up using duct tape lol. This is my necklace and earrings using camoflauge duct tape & other beads....
and here's a closeup of the beads...

so what do you think?

Thank you both  - I was really amazed at how pretty the beads turned out and no one believed it was duct tape - it helped that it was the camoflauge duct tape tho because it has a pattern to it - I haven't tried it with plain duct tape yet.

Hello ChellyD
I learned how to make paper beads from Marinechimp
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=39665.0
I used q-tips to roll the duct tape on and i made the long tube type beads by just wrapping the duct tape around a few times. Good luck!

Paper beads can look really nice if you use the right papers. Even so, some embossing powder and UTEE and, BAM no one knows where the beads came from  Roll Eyes

P.S. I love that neclace. And thats sayin somthin since I am not to fond of camoflauge anything. I had to look really close!

Wow, that's really cool! One question though, are the beads sticky at all? Thats the one thing I would worry about.

They aren't a bit sticky - I was going to coat them for that reason and also to help preserve them better - but there were so many I didn't bother and since I made them out of duct tape - they are plenty tough and they really aren't sticky at all. My daughter's friend that I made them for wears them quite a bit and hasn't had any problems what so ever.

Now on a really hot summer day? I don't know if that will make a difference.

But it is really the coolest thing in the world to run into her by chance and see her wearing them - It was worth making them for her because she lvoes them so much Smiley

LOL - thanks guys! Now I feel special cuz it's a hot topic Wink
oh and bunnirific - I think the longer the triangle, the rounder the bead - i'm not quite sure - i was really random on this - but the roundest beads on the necklace are regular faceted beads in between the duct tape beads.

Here's a great site with patterns for different shape beads

Wow, that's duct tape?  It looks great!

I know how to make the oval-y beads, but how did you make the circular ones?

Sorry I took so long to get back to you -
I didn't have any rhyme or reason as I made the beads (which is unusual for me lol) but I've read that the more tapered they are the more they round?
