too low to be wearable top + old school blouse + new buttons = cute top?
«

April 17, 2006 08:51:26 PM »
Well, I had this top that I bought, for I have no idea why.
It was so low, that even when I tried to sit it at it's highest, half my bra was sticking out of it.
So it hung in my wardrobe for a long long time.
Then, one day, when I decided to take the bottom band off of an old school blouse of mine to make into a cumberbund type belt, I thought "hey, I have some perfect sleeves, buttons and a collar here, all put together for me, I should try using it for something"
So I searched through my wardrobe.
And found the top, which I unfortunately forgot to take a 'before' shot of.
It seemed perfect!
So I set to work.
What I forgot, however, was that my old school blouse was ridiculously oversized (fit for around an AU size 14, while I'm only an 8-10). Trying to shove that into a fitted top wasn't going to work very well.
But I tried all the same!
Foolishly, I tried all the same.
I continued to try, even when lining the collar up with the back was a fiddly pain, having to be changed around five times.
But finally, I ended up with this:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e400/go_go_kokomo/blacktopwhiteyoke.jpg
And the details of puff sleeves and little flower buttons:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e400/go_go_kokomo/blacktopdetails.jpg
I'm quite happy with it.
The only thing I'm thinking about now is whether I should add some black trim to the collar? It looks a bit dull, and melds into the rest of the white a bit too much, but I'm not sure..
Opinions?

That's reeeeally cute, I think the piping idea is a good one too but even if you did nothing more to it, it's beautiful!
I want one!!

Wow! I love it, its very cute, you could maybe put like thin ribbon along the edges of the collar? or a thin strip of lace?
but anyways, its still looks
really
good!

great job! i agree with the put something on the collar opinions, but something small because it doesn't look like there's a lot of other white. can you get your hands on some more of the black flower buttons? maybe a few at the points of the collar?

Haha I think I have that same black shirt! I originally bought it because I thought it would look great with a collared shirt or something underneath... exactly what you have done! I never wear it without something under it, it's a bit *too* low for that...
Looks really cute!! I loovee it!!
