Rod Stewart is nothing compared to the remake of Suffragette City I have.  It's none other than Mary-Kate Olsen.  I didn't believe it at first and got a good 3 minute laugh from it.  Oh and don't worry neither of those artist will appear on the cd's Smiley

lol....I love David Bowie!  (I can't even imagine an Olson Twin covering Bowie.)  That said, ever heard Bowie's co-cover of Dancing in the Streets with Mick Jagger?  Actually, I'm not sure the song itself is so bad, but the video is terminally 80s, and everytime I hear it I see Bowie and Jagger in these bad clothes hopping around in these spastic dance moves.... Roll Eyes
OMG I know!  Overly spiked hair, spandex, sashes, spastic dancing, lots of lip.  If it weren't for the fact that they were both musical legends I would have to cry.

Sadly, I also have that Suffragette City cover.

It's off the end of their movie New York Minute.
shamefully, one of my favourite movies.

LOL!

...It's funny digging through past cds and videos.. i found a copy of Willow- which used to me my favourite movie (Val Kilmer in drag?! ).. as well as Caravan of Courage- the ewok movie...

In terms of music.. luckily my dad managed to keep me on track with his obsession with the beatles! =)

I thought I'd share this site that I found--it's called Second Hand Songs and it's a database for covers, remakes, and sampling.  While it doesn't have every song, it's very useful for tracking down originals and the like.

I'm getting obsessed with this swap! These is so much out there and so little space on a cd. This is way too much fun.

Today I was driving to the craft store and listening to NPR when I heard some hilarious covers of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and Culture Club's "Karma Chameleon" covered on A Prairie Home Companion by a chorus that sounded like it belonged in a church. It was hilarious and they covered about six or seven songs at least. I couldn't help but sing in the highest fake chorus voice I could muster. I'd include a whole cd of songs like that if I were sending out 20 cd's - there are so many great covers out there!

And if anyone wants to talk about wacky music videos again I propose Karma Chameleon...

How is everyone else doing? I'm not going to burn until the last minute because I keep finding more and better covers that I want.

My own personal cover collection is slightly limited... I'm going to end up expanding my partner's horizons a bit with some songs that sway from her music taste. Is that okay? Is it bad to send music that isn't exactly what they said they like?

I'd wondered about that too.  It'll be interesting to see how much overlap there is amongst the playlists.
