that looks great!  I'm about to start a pilates class, and have been wanting to make a bag to carry my mat.  How easy is it to get the mat in and out of the bag?  Is it easy, or a hassle?  I would like to come up with something that is pretty easy.

I totally agree. I have a yoga bag like this and it's always such a bother trying to roll the mat up small enough then having to shove it in. The ones with the zippers are tricky too.

I made a bag for myself and a friend and I have no problem getting my mat into the bag.

Mine is from a "sewing for dummies" pattern.   Cheesy

Yeah, i made it a bit bigger than the diameter of the mat, so its not too bad. The stickiness of the mat would deffinetly be an issue though if the bag was too small.

Yeah, I made a bag for my mat too, and like manderz I made it bigger than the diameter of my mat.  I haven't had any trouble getting it in and out of the bag.  I imagine though that it also depends (somewhat) on the material that you use.  Fleece or wool would stick to the mat more than cotton or the like.  Ya know?

By the way, your bag is beautiful!   Cheesy

Is there a pocket on the outside of the bag?  It looks like it to me...what do you use the pocket for?  Also...how did you sew the bottom shut...is it a circular panel, or just a flat sew, or a flat sew with the corners rounded out...it's really lovely, and I'd like to do something similar for my yoga mat.
