I've been thinking that a workout/weight loss swap would really be helpful and encouraging.
I'm thinking:
-fun motivational art/posters,
-nifty workout wear,
-arty meal journals,
-funky mixed cds for doing exercises
-calendars with rosie the riveter or some other classic "motivational" icons

...I'm not sure what else could be done. I just know that for a lot of us (me! me!) really struggle with efforts to create a healthy lifestyle--crafty, thoughtful gifts might really help motivate a person to keep it up. also, since so much stuff that you use or buy for fitness is generic and bland, somehow incorporating crafty creativity could make it way cooler!

I've never done a swap before, so I'm not sure of how it's done or what sort of things should be exchanged.

brainstorming, anyone?
Woo-hoo! thanks to offnlalaland54 , this swap is actually gonna happen! sign up here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=16738609.msg933056#msg933056

love it! this sounds like a swap that is just right for me!

i'm not sure if a swap like this has been done before, i'll do a little snooping. if you haven't been in a swap yet then you'd need to find someone who has swapped before to organize it. (i'd be willing)

That would be fantastic! Some ideas: mix cds, fun motivational art (shrines, happy veggies, etc), shirts, gym bags, yoga mat covers, magnetic food pyramid, diet/exercise journals, muscle soothing bath products, lunch bags for bringing healthy food to work/school, bicycle crafts, etc.

First off, I've never participated in a swap, so I guess I'd be crummy at organizing one...I still need to learn a lot about how these thangs go down--besides, you know, poring over all the swap galleries, green with envy at the neato loot exchanged...

Bike Crafts! oh that would rock!

and how 'bout scary fridge art, to make you think twice before opening it? or a candy jar designed to look like an evil monster...

there's some great vintage images of people exercising out there, if you know where to look. these kinds of things seem to beg to be put to good, creative use. for example:

I'm starting to feel inspired....

is this inactive or have you started?  This sounds like an awsome idea. I have to lose the few pounds final's week blessed me with as well (as the extra I had on before).  This would be so helpful to get in the mood and feel some support!
