how about using a clear hair elastic? they come in packs of like, fifty, and they're super thin, and well, clear. : )

What a cute idea!  Can anyone enlighten me as to what specifically a shank button is?  Does it just have a little hook on the back (i.e. no holes)?

yup, it's the kind of button with a little loop on the back instead of  holes through it.

since this is in featured projects i thought i'd bring it back to life with a new post...hehe

here are my button hair pretties. i'm so excited to have noticed this cause i'm a buttonaholic and this is yet another way to use them. it is for sure a three second project. the hardest thing is picking the buttons. i found it best to have one that the shank is horizontal on the back. makes it easier for your button to be right side up. i got them from buttons galore. i went nuts one day and bought sixty dollars worth of buttons....oops.

if you do order from them i don't recommend their grabbags. i got a few cause of the price and lots of yuck buttons. other than that order away. great stuff great selection
