This is my bday gift for my roomate- the box is made of stiff cardboard with thin foam glued to one side, then covered with fabric and hand-stitched together (and let me tell you, sewing through cardboard is a pain without a thimble...literally). Inside and bottom are felt-lined. Outside fabrics are brown silk, cream velvet, and cream lace with a cream nylon lining fabric underneath. Crystal bead, seed beads, and bugle beads sewn to the top. Enjoy!

That is sooo pretty!  Did you just buy the cardboard box from a craft store??  Do you have a picture of the inside of it?

Nope, not a pre-made box. I took the really stiff cardboard from the backs of big pads of graph paper and cut it up by hand, covered with fabric etc, and hand-sewed the panels together. The inside is just black felt that I glued down.
