I really love that dress! I think it is amazing! I might have to try to find that pattern somewhere because that would be an amazing dress to have...

Wow! Thank you all for the nice comments!

geekette - The buckle was actually my great grandmother's. I inherited her sewing box, which is full of cool vintage ribbons and buttons and such. I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

Ha Ha--I bet you are right about the pattern being from the 60's!  I have a whole closet full of patterns that are 75 cents! You did a very nice job on the fabric selection, but the best thing is that you worked on it with your grandma: creativity crosses all ages! I love your dress! I will hope for NO BREEZES for you hee hee

Too bad it's dangerous to wear in windy weather because it is too cute and you should wear it often. The fabric is a great match for the pattern!

very cute!

butterick has issued version of this pattern many times, i have several copies.  the version before yours was called the "fast and easy dress", it was from 1952 and had a circle skirt.  the one after yours was called the "wrap-and-go", it was from 1971 and had an a-line skirt.  they re-issued the fast and easy a few years ago, in modern proportions.
