Yay! I just checked the USPS site and mom's package made it to BatGrrl and mine left the main hub nearest krebstar5 so it should be there today or tomorrow!! WAHOO!! I hope they like all their things!
I was trying to figure out why you hadn't seen my post on page 8 in which I talked about the great package I got, but I went back to edit and put in the photos like I said I would when things settled down here, and my post is blank!
I saw it with my own two eyes right after I posted it. I don't know what happened, but I do remember having some trouble accessing Craftster early last week on and off, so maybe my post got lost? Sorry.
Anyhow, the original post, minus actual pictures, and some of the details, went something like this:
Thanks, grasshopper's mom, for a great swap package!
Here's a picture of all the goodies laid out:
Top to bottom and left to right:
A group shot of everything: fleece poncho and matching scarf, Elmo lunchbox that contained the two lovely glass charms, Kermit the Frog, and a fabulous altered book!
The Elmo tin with the two charms on top.
A tiny bit of text left over from the original book on one page--this left over bit of text, in context of what's around it, is one of my favorite little things about the book. You'll have to wait to see why it's important, though--just wanted to slip in a big enough pic so you can read it, and it fit here.
The two glass charms: Elmo and Big Bird, in shiny foil glory!
Pandora getting acquainted with Kermit by sniffing his flipper. There were some great pictures of her hopping in the box to investigate, but for various reasons I couldn't use them. She was very enticed by the package, though a little too much by the Easter-grass padding the charms.
The poncho and scarf--I actually had eyed this fabric up at my local Hobby Lobby, so it was a great surprise--plus, it's usually cool enough in the apartment that I'm putting things on my shoulders anyway--I wore it most of last week while I was up late commenting on student papers, which is what kept me from posting pictures earlier.
Finally, a preview of how I plan to display the book, with Kermit sitting beside and sort of interacting. He has fabulously bendy limbs!
I love love love the book, and I have to say that I was hoping for one of these after seeing the fabulous Where the Wild Things Are altered book, and the book is so great I wanted everyone to be able to enjoy it, so I've taken pictures of every page--two pictures of some of them. I'll post two as pictures and leave the rest as links so the post doesn't get too big.
The cover and first pages of the book:
The next batch of pages, including the great "accidental" (or perhaps intentional?) bit of text at the bottom, which, as you can probably read above, says "can use it to do some good." In context of the picture and writing above it, it's fitting.
Now, the other pages, but you'll have to click:
