Here are my two latest babes both from natural icelandic sheep - one grey one brown.  I really love the icelandic natural batt.  Trimmed with corriedale and merino roving bits.

Enjoy!

I LOVE these hats!  I've thought about trying to make some but my head and hats don't seem to get along Smiley   Your hats are truly an inspiration.  WOW!

So beautiful! I especially like the blue wave-like embellishment on the second one.

What lovely royal blues GraceO   Smiley
And I love the way the flower tones in the royal blues + the natural shades of the hat.
Your eye for detail is superb.
Beautiful work!

What do you use as a base when needle felting your hats? And wouln't that take FOREVER? I'm just dying to know...

Awww thanks much everyone.  Hats are indeed one of my favorite things to make - just seems to take a while to get up the energy to do them. LOL

Yes, laminathegreat, it does take time - though using the tool that holds 5 needles helps.   In one of the other hat threads of mine it shows the foam head blocks - I cut and glue and make oval head blocks out of foam rubber cushions.

Again many thanks to those who comment.  Sometimes I wish I could be more free flowing and non-traditional  - though my technique is free flowing and does not use patterns, my hands still put out pretty classic hats.  Am continuing to develop technique aiming for soft and flexible hats that hold together well - hats that are wearable in todays life style.

It means so much to hear that many of you like these.  Hugs.

Your hats are stunning, Grace O.  I'm especially loving the second one with the flower detail.  I personally really like the style of your hats, to me they look classic 40's, and classic never goes out of style.

In fact, I think 40's + 50's is becoming more fashionable atm.
What with all the polka dots and skirts

Thanks much, encouragement and kind words much appreciated.  Sometimes my hats seem to me to have a daring flapper aire.  Cloches are my favorites to wear and to make.

Am gearing up to try a royal blue one. Smiley

Could you point me to that thread? i've looked and looked and I can't find it!
I'm curious about needle felting the hats because I want to make a felt pirate style hat for me and my husband for the ren fest this summer. I was going to wet felt them but now you have my wheels turning on maybe needle felting.. it may make the big brim easier!!!!!!!
(Though I did find more and more of your felt work as I looked, good good stuff!! I'm so inspired to get unpacked and get rolling now!!)
