I covered a little mint tin with polymer clay.   Added some polymer licorice allsorts to the top.

Added a US 5 cent piece for scale (about the size of an Australian 10 cent piece).

that looks so great! Did you use any kind of glaze or acrylic spray on the outside or did you leave it as is? Also, did you bake the mints seperately and then attach them or did you attach first and then baked the whole tin at once?

I attached the licorice allsorts to the top of the tin first then baked the whole tin.

To get the soft sheen to the turquoise polymer clay, after baking tin and allowing to cool completely,  I used wet and dry sand paper,(starting with 220 grade, getting progressively finer to up to 800 grade), and water to smooth out the finish of the clay.  Then I polished with a soft cloth.   The licorice allsorts didn't need sanding.

That is so retro '50s looking. I love it and you gave me a cool idea of something to make for my dad! He loves old things and licorice allsorts candy too!

That's really cute. i like how the turquoise is soft looking vs the hard look of the candy. Is it lined?

Not lined.  I haven't done anything with the inside of the tin except wash it.

Very nice tin!  They really look good enough to eat  Grin

The tin is so little though... not an Altoid tin, I'm assuming.  What kind of stuff came in it??

It is actually an 0\Zon mint tin.  It has 70 tiny sugar free mints a bit smaller than a tic tac.  They are made in Denmark,  but I can buy them here in Australia.  The tin is about the same size as the tiny altoid tin.

Coolest thing I've seen in ages! It really made me smile. Grin Also, the candies look very realistic, and sort of like they are gowing out of the top of the tin. Great job!

Wow I love that. They look so realistic,

I seemed to spend half my childhood eating Liquorice Allsorts as my Nan-nan (and half of my cousins) worked at the Bassetts factory. I still love them though Smiley

Followed the instruction on the packet. I baked for half an hour at 125 degrees Centigrade.  My oven runs a little hot and is fan forced so I baked at 5 degrees Centigrade lower than recommended on packet.
