Today was one of thoes take a pain killer and keep you feet up kinda days. . .you know, when you get dizzy just standing up or when you have to walk a flight of stares and have killer cramps. . .

So I sat here making other gals what I wish I'd had. . .
hot/cold packs http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=29163.0
eye pillows http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=38334.0
and because I had odd sized scraps I just sewed them up full of lavendar

All of it, two full sets and an eye pillow

one set is for TOM Kit for the Unconditonal April Swap. . .
it is hard to tell in the picture but thoes are rose buds and leaves. . .

At first I was going to keep a set for me to use right now but then I thaught it would be perfect for the "time of month kit swap" but then my sister called and we talked about the DIY pads I have a convert! and it turnes out she could have used a PMS kit last week so I'll be giving it to her she had FAS (fetal alcahol syndrom. . .her birth mom was going to have an abortion but got weathered in. . .missed the plane and my parents adopted her) and could use a pick me up. . .everyone thinks she is a trouble maker but really her mom fried her brain by drinking and she does not understand right from wrong Undecided but is the smartest kid I know when I comes to math, reading, spelling and such  Cheesy

With my Costco sized bag of rice and my 15 lbs of lavender flowers I can see myself making many, many, many more sets. . .

awsome idea! I especially like the hot/cold pack because people can use it anytime really.
i was wondering, how much did you put in each one and how long are you supposed to microwave it for so that the rice doesn't cook? Huh

I don't remember how much cause I play it by ear (have made 3 different sizes) but it is 1 min per cup of rice. . .microwave with water (sprinkle the hotpack or microware with a mug of water).  Hope that helps. . .the link at the top is more informative  Cheesy

I dont know what i would do without heat packs.

thought id let u know that they dont have to be just rectangles..

You can make them in any shape..

here is a frog shaped heatpack for kids.. (and big kids)
