These are my first two needle felting projects. I am quite pleased with the results! I'm going to go through my first bag of wool in no time flat. Cheesy

Here is the obligatory tiny bear:

And here is a neato little elephant:

Those are awesome, especially the elephant! But I don't really get how to actually make things with needle felting - do you use a pattern? Or do you just kinda go to it? Sorry for my ignorant questions - I just don't know how it works!

Personally I just go to it! I have the idea in my head and just shape the fibres as I am needling.

Brilliant work, love the elephant!!

Thankyouthankyou! I really did just grab some wool and start poking. The pink bear was actually supposed to be a pig, but the limbs turned out to be far too long so I made a bear instead. The elephant took significantly longer because it was hard to get the trunk and ears to look "right". Plus I experimented with finer needles to make it look smoother.

I really like the elephant.  Great effect leaving the end of the tail fluffy so it looks like hair, very good for your first effort.  Can't wait to see more!

I am absolutly in love with the elephant! I've always wanted to do something in needle-felting, but i have no idea how to get into it, and what I would need!

I love that!
Felting always reminds me of that old show, "Mama's Family"  where the neighbor,  Iola,  is always crafting using dryer lint.  Does anyone remember that?
I swear when I moved into my new place the lint buildup in the dryer was so thick I could've made a scarf out of it.  HA

Anyway,  I think that it is great that you can think on your feet (ie  changing the pig to a teddy) , and I think that the elephant is classic but unique.

I just got started too and finding the materials seemed a little daunting at first.
I went here http://www.mielkesfarm.com/Products/felting.htm and bought the "Felter's Bag of Candy", a few needles, and a little foam pad. Don't bother with the kits, just pokepokepoke.

The elephant is so gorgeous! I am really amazed and am hoping you will make an entire herd since so many of us are wishing we had one just like it. Truly wonderful work!
