If you have it on DVD and have a DVD player on your computer, you could play/pause it & take the screenshot.

hmmm... maybe hubby knows how. I can play DVD's on our laptop, but I don't know how to freeze the shot. I'll have to ask him!

Ahh... pause the movie and press "Prt Scr" to save your screen.  Then open an image editing program, paste the image, crop all the extra stuff off and save it.

Welcome to the discussion frogeyesalad and nice choice of a wedding date (mine too!)

Wood for a base does sound like it would help stabilize the tree. If, for some reason, all hell breaks loose and the tree doesn't work out as a 6 foot extravaganza, a bunch of different trees of differing height would be really cool all set out on a table. Each could be decorated with a slightly different trim and in coordinating colors...

Dang, I'm starting to wish I had gone with cupcakes instead of a cake!

Here is a picture of the tree my friend had at her wedding in December (excuse the Christmas-y greenery)

You can kind of see that her tree had a Christmas tree stand-like base. That's always an idea. Make the base from wood and anchor it with a tree stand.

Well, that's my 2 cents. I can't wait to see how this turned out!

Ooh, we're on the same timeline- I'm sure I'm way behind though:)
I must ask- do you have ANY idea where you friend got that? I really don't mind buying one if possible, I just resigned myself to making it since I can't find one. And that is EXACTLY what I want. Any help you could give that way would be great

I don't know yet but I'll send her a message to see if she can tell me. It might be that she got it from the person who did the cupcakes but we'll see!

As far as timeline.. I keep feeling like we're falling farther and farther behind. We've got a quote for the invites but still haven't sent them out to the printer. The website is going up slowly. Mostly, I'm just concerned about the invites.

OH oh oh!!  Congrats!!
pinkangel, congratulations on your engagement!

Thank you both Smiley I'm having lots of fun thinking about what I can make for our wedding but until we decide on a season (Spring or Autumn), let alone a date, I can't do a whole lot!

Texting from a few feet away? For shame!

Congrats on your engagements, pinkangel! A girl after my own heart, into list making:) My fiance makes fun of me, because I make lists for EVERYTHING.

Thanks for sending her a message, sunnydays. When are you planning on sending your invitations? I think I've heard 6-8 weeks ahead of time? I guess I better get moving on them!

Thanks for the suggestion for the book, thekster. I will definitely check that site out, I think I will end up looking at every single site possible and see which is most flexible.

You are welcome!

I heard 6-8 weeks for invitations too so that would put us at... somewhere between March 22 and April 5? Oh man! It's already February!

Hi

Thought I'd introduce myself as have been lurking around here for the past few months after my boyf proposed.

We've set a date in June and I was pretty sure things were moving along nicely, deposit on dress, picked a venue and the food, designed my invitations which I have printed to assemble next week. Lots of great inspirational ideas from this board I've been wanting to try.

Then this morning whilst lying in bed my fiance told me that the hotel we are getting married in has burnt down!!!

I have no idea how bad the damage is as there isn't much info:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/tyne/7219138.stm

But our deposit had to be in today! Hmmm can't quite be bothered to hunt around for another venue but then again I did have slight doubts about this hotel anyway (no where for photos). But this venue is on all my invites.

Anyway assuming I'll sort something I plan to craft:
Invitations (Again if needed!)
Table Plan
Place Cards
Favours (A couple of different ideas at the moment)
Flowers
Centrepieces
Bridesmaid Dresses
My Wedding Cake
Wooden Wedding Letters (Inspired by various craftsters)
Out of Town Bags for the people who have travelled long distances
Candles for the tables (Fire Hazard)

That is it at the moment so the list doesn't look too bad as long as I stop procrastinating!
