Hi all... I just recently got engaged, can I join?

We are planning to marry on August 3rd in a short and sweet ceremony at a gazebo in the park of our home town and a reception at a hotel.

So far I have a dress I ordered from J. Crew
http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/product.jhtml?id=prod72169381&catId=cat180147

Here's what I plan to do myself...
-Invitations
Any idea how to properly get across the point that the ceremony  will be short and there is no seating? (I may try to rent some chairs but I'm unsure so far.)

-Flowers:
(I'm thinking of ordering them wholesale or just taking apart store-bought bouquets)
I want simple bouquets and really like the idea of floating gardenias in a bowl for centerpieces:
http://www.freshroses.com/gard.html

-Shawl
May possibly knit a lace shawl for myself.. (or ask FH's step-mom to do it since she is an amazing knitter) I get cold easy but I don't want to cover up the awesome back of my dress!

-Bridesmaid Gifts
No idea on this one. FH wants flasks for the guys. (real classy!) I'd love to give them something handmade.

-Flower girl basket or pomander

-Ring Bearer pillow

Okay that's just the stuff I can think of for now. I'll fill you in as things begin happening.

DIYdani if you wanted to give the flasks a more personal touch you could etch you and your fiance's initials on the flasks, or whatever you would like onto the flasks.

I am crafting some of my wedding!  This is a very exciting thread!  I'm getting married on August 11th, and I am making:

the food
my dress
my flower arrangements
the cake
a pretty canopy to be married under
probably my jewelry and possibly the bridesmaids'
all stationary items (programs, invites, table numbers, place cards)
guest book

and I probably forgot some other stuff.

I will provide pictures soon.

I am so happy!!!

I'm fairly new to Craftster but have been working my way through a lot of wedding planning DIY crafts... I could use the extra "DIY commmunity" chatter as I'm winding my way closer (we're about 4 months out)...and I'm getting to be more freakish.

Here are my DIYs and to do list for the ceremony (other posts will be coming)

Ceremony:

Aisle runner (I need to finish ironing, but it's done)

I'm rethinking these pew decorations because they aren't holding up well... so I need an alternative to these:

Programs:  This is the mock-up but we're not quite ready to print the "guts" yet

Sake trays: I need to change this lining from navy to more of a wheat color

Bouts/corsages:
Flower girl headband:http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i219/ksimer/DSC01913.jpg

Ring pillow: mom is sewing shut and stuffing this, but I finished the stitching

TO DO: Altar table runner, 2 large (fake?) floral arrangements, one (my) bouquet (girls are carrying umbrellas), and decorating the FG baskets

Here are the to do/DIY projects for the reception

Reception
There will be three floral arrangements for each table-- two short ones with fake orchids (shown below) and one tall arrangement with live dendrobium orchids.  I need to get the rest of the supplies for this: vases, pebbles, lotus pods (and later the "live" flowers)

Pen holder for guest "book" pens (actually a guest sign-in tablecloth):

Envelopes for wish bowl and the lucky "trees" (there will be two) that go with them:

I painted the hair darker on our cake topper (for the small cutting cake):

TO DO:
String and bead the strands Origami cranes (not pictured)-- at least I've folded all 1001 of them!

Fold 144 napkins into this shape and pin the name card on them (so they stay in place):

Finish making the cream puff stand:

Make the tablecloths

Finish placecards and table cards (which will look like these)

Make table numbers

So, I've finished the Save the Dates and Thank Yous:

I am started on the invitations:

And here is the mock up of the completed version:

Outside (but sash and ribbon will be a bit skinnier):

TO DO: I need to design and print the inserts.

Tonight I'll post about gift/favor/attire/misc. to-do and DIY items

Thanks!  I got the stamps from Mari and Me in Hawaii (www.mariandme.com) but I think Hanko designs has been another place I've looked at..

I just sort of lucked out in finding my fiance's family crest-- Smiley

Although I'm not DIYing my dress, I did have them made using commercial patterns from a local dressmaker, so these would be good examples for DIY'ers who have some dressmaking skills (not me!).. I photoshopped in the sash because I didn't have it when I tried the finished dress on, but it does really exist!

My wedding dress uses a slight modification of this pattern:

This is the finished product:

The same dressmaker is making a rehearsal dinner dress out of this fabric and a re-sized use of a pattern similar to this one:

And she's making a reception dress from this fabric and pattern:

I get to see the work in progress in 3 weeks!

MY DIYs were a garter and veil-- pics below:
