Ok, I am getting married next june and am already starting to stress about alll the stuff I have to do..I am bound and determined to make my own cake, I really like baking and I think I could do it.  Has anyone made their own cake? Any suggestions? I also am going to make the invitations and save the date cards.  My fiance's mom is a crazy awesome gardener and she is going to grow all the flowers for the wedding, lots of gardenia and gerbra daisies!

Do you feel a secret can become alive..In the backs of the wall your heart is as black as mine..We have done nothing but live as those buried beneath the soil..I only have myself to blame..

pms1882 - I didn't make my own cake, but I think it would be a good idea to take a cake-making class at Joanns or someplace similar, especially if you want to make the traditional tiered cake. There's probably books on wedding cakes at your local library, so you should definitely check that out. (pun kinda intended. Cheesy) Also, I made my own invitations, and really loved EnvelopeMall.com. The prices were reasonable, they had a nice selection, I loved the Stardream paper and cardstock I got from there, and shipping was really quick. Even with shipping, I got more paper and spent less than what I would have gotten and spent at PaperSource.

kristinp36 - Everything you have so far looks awesome! I really like the cake topper. Nice job!

This is my first post here, but it's an appropriate area considering that all of my crafty attention as of late is concentrated TOTALLY on our upcoming medieval/nature themed wedding.  I wish I had discovered this website earlier.  I love it!

Completed Crafts:

Pouched stones for stone ceremony:

Medieval colouring books for kid's table:

To Do:

-Groom's outfit (in progress)
-Flower girl outfit
-Ring bearer outfit
-Fan Programs (in progress)
-Grown-up Favors - potted herbs
-Kid Favors - little medieval flags
-Guest Book - will be a "tree of life" tapestry.  Guests will sign leaves (currently doing hand-made batik fabric as we couldn't find greens light enough) and I will applique them on after the wedding.
-Handfasting cords - Our wedding colours are brown and green, and I discovered as a total fluke that our signs are brown and green respectivly, on a handfasting cord website.  So I'm going to make one cord for each of us, and sew on little charms and doo-dads onto each one to represent our interests and personalities.  The handfasting cord will remain tied, and I will sew it onto the Tree of Life tapestry after the wedding.
