Anybody else perplexed by Canada Post's shipping rules? I find it so strange that the size of the parcel appears to be more important than the weight.  If your parcel won't go through their little pretend letterbox slot, then the parcel becomes much more expensive to send.  At least, that's what seems to happen, but I could be misinterpreting what is going on, and I freely admit that when I go to their website to try to find out what the rules are, I get more confused than I was to begin with.  Roll Eyes

Anyway, I've been toying with the idea of a swap that would be a combination somehow of a Canadians Only swap (there have been some in the past, but not for a while I think), but where the parcel size was limited to going through their letterbox slot.  Kind of like a One Tiny Thing swap, but you're not limited to making one thing, you can send whatever you want, crafts or supplies or both , as long as it all fits within a certain dimension envelope.

thoughts? any interest? would this work?

I think it has to do with what rate they charge you. Like if it fits through the slot it's a "small packet" but if it doesn't it's a "regular parcel". Then they charge more for each kg of the parcel than they do the packet.
It's a weird thing postage rates.

However, I'd be into a Canada swap of only items that fit into the slot.

Cool, that's totally what I was thinking... kind of like a "Canadians' One Small Envelope Swap" or something like that.  Smiley

I HATE Canada Post, and would be down with any sort of swap geared at stickin' it to them.  Grin

I'm in too! I sent two packages today. One 8 1/2 x 11 envelope and one cereal box, to the same destination, they both cost the same!! Go figure Huh I like the idea of the 'slot swap', but learned today, may as well stuff the cereal box! Huh d

If only closed minds came with closed mouths!

If the world is getting smaller, why do postage rates keep going up?

this is the greatest idea i have ever heard. canada post is so frustrating to deal with, i would love the option of beating their ridiculous system.

also, i have yet to get a canadian swap partner. :-( so this would be pretty rad.

I'm not from Canada, but I had to pop in and see what this was about! Hehe...then I got a vision of this thread being closed down by request of the Canadian postal service. Good luck and have fun! Cheesy

good point, kidcompassion - and it might also be a good swap for people looking for their first swap, since it is just filling a "small packet" with crafted and non-crafted items.

That's right, sistah! We'll take it to The Man!  Cheesy
