My good friend Trifarina (stuck out at sea, bless her heart) helped me make this gorgeous laptop envelope on her sewing machine.  She also helped me pick out the colors, provided the padding, and did the sewing.  So I guess you could say she made it while I watched.  Anyway, it's a layer of tapestry and a layer of flannel.  The compass roses on the gold tapestry have moss green detail in the center, which matches the flannel.  We also put a couple extra layers of an old fleece blanket in the center to pad one side of the laptop.  The 3-ply fold over flaps pad the other side.  We got the idea for the shape from a thick 1-ply felt model on a japanese website that I can't seem to find at the moment (if anyone knows it, let me know and I'll add it to this post).  Anyway the velcro is strong and it works great and I've been getting compliments all over the place.

Hey! Cool!  That wouldn't have occurred to me.  That is really great. You and your friend are a great team.  (How long ago did you lose her at sea? I'd get her back, pronto, if I were you.)

I saw a post today, in German, that sounds like the one you described:  Auf Wunsch noch ne Anleitung

Like this one Smiley

I was thinking of making something similar but decided not to since I cannot find the material I want to make it with here. Maybe next year though since I am going to Asia and I know where to get the material very cheaply.

Not for me because my friend did all the work.  Seriously though - we just cut out the fabric and sewed it (inside out) almost all the way around, then turned it right side out, and closed up the rest of the seam by hand.  Trifarina stitched around near the edge for a nicer finish and to keep the fleece from moving inside.  Then i sewed on the velcro.  Very easy.  We were going to make hers with some white tapestry and purple velvet but she got cold feet - too... I don't know...  Prince?
