I made this in a class I took at the Arizona Gourd festival in February.  I think he is so cute!

what a cute idea.  I am not a fan of "just to look at" trinkets and art ...i'm more of a functional art person (keeps me from having to dust  Grin ) but my mother would love love love that!  How on earth did you do it?  It looks like two gourds were used but I can't tell for sure.  Great job!

So you think you're special?  Let me tell you something, individuality is a myth.  We're all part of the same oozing cancer called humanity.

I am glad you like it.  And it actually is functional - it's a box so you can store your flies and other important things in it.

It is made from one gourd.  the front is sanded down a little to make the tummy.  paperclay is added to make the eyes.  and the rest is acrylic paint.  All the warts are part of the gourd.

When I get home tonight I will try to put up a picture of a undecorated warty gourd so you can see what I started with.

Thanks! How lucky are you to have such a visionary gourd. He knew just what you wanted.  Wink

Gourds are like that - they often tell you what they want to be - or how they want to look.

I work with gourds a lot, and you're absolutely right - although try to explain that to someone who doesn't do gourds or artsy stuff in general and they're likely to look at you like you're mental.
