Thanks, judypudy, for identifying the pattern.  I love the elegant, Aran-look that using one color gives the afghan.  I hate doing all single crochet, but I may try this one any way.

I found some pics of finished afghans.  Amazing how different they look with different colors.

And here are a few more patterns.  Look for Navajo afghans in the right column:

Aunt Becky..

WOW you really found some pretty ones. i love the first link. those are some REALLLLLLLLLLLY beautiful
afghans. & how true what a difference the different colors make.  never thought of making them in one color
like vamps mother .....or even in 2 colors like on the first link.  & baby colors...who would have thought!!!!

glad you were able to round up some pics for vampirebee....i didn't have time last night to do that.. & i really enjoyed seeing them.

think im gonna have to pick that pattern up AGAIN....now whoa is me.......WHAT colors to use now that i
have all these ideas RUNNING around in my little brain!!!!  LOL

I completely agree, Judy.  The baby colors give the afghans an entirely different look from either the solid or the stripes.  I'm thinking that I might start with a pillow or two.  One of the patterns that I Googled had directions on how to adjust the pattern for larger or smaller pieces.
