I wear an 8 too! I need a turquiose pair for prom *scurries off to see if she can find a pair to revamp*

Hey do you think that they make turquoise feathers?

Also is the glitter silver/black or did you paint silver/black under them also?

*agonizes over the fact that she might not find the shoes let alone the turquoise glitter and feathers  Undecided *

I've seen similar shoes at Wal-mart...actually tried them on and laughed at myself in them...I've seen turquoise-ish feathers in packages of multi-colored feathers! Good luck! (and be sure to post....I'm suddenly in love with glittery feathery shoes thanks to stifflersmom!

I didn't use any paint. I did use silver and black glitters I found at Michael's. The black doesn't have quite enough *pop* so I'd mix a tiny amount of silver into the black if I were to do this again. Cheesy

Just a friendly tip, do not use superglue on dyed feathers. It turns them white. Yuck. I actually made feathered wings for these shoes, but because I didn't have someone to model them, I thought they wouldn't look right without a foot in the shoe for the pics. Tongue

Those are really pretty! I have shoes just like those... and they hurt a lot. I don't wear them anymore because the last time I did the front of the plastic actually scraped the skin off my toes. I don't know how to fix it, because the top of the plastic has a band with jewels hanging on it. Great idea, I bet you could wear them with a plain outfit to a halloween party if you didn't want to dress up.

If you can't find turquoise glitter, you might want to try turquoise paint covered in clear microbeads.  It gives a glittery effect (almost like reflective material, actually).  I used paint & microbeads on Chucks before, so I'm sure it would also work for shoes like these.  If ya wanna see, the link is http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=71246.0

Or (and I'm just guessing this would work, so it might require some experimentation)... you could try coloring silver glitter with turquoise alcohol ink (the stuff that permanently dyes metal, glass, and other nonpermeable surfaces).  I'm thinking you might be able to put glitter and alcohol ink in a bag or a jar and shake it to mix.  I'm just not sure whether it would stick more to the glitter, or more to the container you mix it in.  So this is an idea, but not an educated recommendation.   Wink
